Vanderbilt University Business School MBA Essay Questions, Topics and Sample Essay Response
ESSAY 2001-2002
Each essay should be no more than two pages, typed and double-spaced with a font size of 10 to 12 points.
1. Explain how your academic background, prior work experience, and career interests have led you to pursue an MBA degree at this time.
2. Describe your future career plans. How will an MBA degree from Owen@Vanderbilt specifically help you achieve your personal and professional goals in a way that you are not currently capable?
3. Identify the three most significant personal or professional attributes you currently possess, and explain how each will help you contribute to the Vanderbilt MBA community.
4. Describe a meaningful cross-cultural experience you have had that highlights your awareness, understanding and appreciation of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds in a business setting.
5. (Optional) You may provide an optional additional statement to explain poor academic performance, weak test scores, significant gaps in full-time employment, lack of a recommendation from your current or most recent supervisor, academic misconduct, violations of the law, or anything else you think is important for the Admissions Committee to know about you that is not already addressed elsewhere in your application.
