The forecasting activity is an essential prelude to decisions involving planning and budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and inventory management. The subject is important in both service sector and production organizations. Topics include time series methods, causal methods, treatment of seasonal effects, trend effects, the business cycle and combinations of forecasts.
